RECSA and
EAANSA Sign
MoU-
Nairobi, July 9th,
2008
–
The Regional Centre
on Small Arms (RECSA) entered into a
Memorandum of Understanding with EAANSA
(Eastern Africa Action Network on Small
Arms) committing themselves to work
together to address issues of small
arms. The MOU was signed by Dr. Francis
Sang, the RECSA Executive Secretary, and
Mr Richard Mugisha, the EAANSA Executive
Secretary on behalf of the two
organizations.

Arms Marking
Training - Nairobi, June
27th, 2008

A
regional training workshop on the use of
the machines is planned for 3rd
July at
Nairobi Safari Club (Lilian Towers).
The workshop is funded by the US
Government. This is the second workshop
after a similar one held in Mombasa in
April 2008. Members of the press are
invited to cover this meeting. The
meeting will be officially opened at 9
a.m. by the Commissioner of Police,
Major General Hussein Ali.

Regional Seminar
on MANPADS, Nairobi.
June 27th, 2008

The Government of
Kenya will host the first ever regional
African seminar on Man-Portable Air
Defense Systems (MANPADS) on July 1st
and 2nd, 2008. The meeting is organized
by the Regional Centre on Small Arms
(RECSA) with funding from the U.S.
Department of State’s Office of Weapons
Removal and Abatement. The purpose of
this meeting is to discuss MANPADS
proliferation in the Great Lakes Region
and the Horn of Africa in light of a
recent study sponsored by the Government
of the United Kingdom.
