A significant milestone in Africa’s journey towards peace and security was achieved today with the official launch of Africa Amnesty Month 2025 in Kampala, Uganda. The event was presided over by HE Rt. Hon. Rebecca A. Kadaga, underscoring the commitment of African leaders to the Silencing the Guns initiative.
The Amnesty Month initiative seeks to sensitize the public and encourage the voluntary surrender of illegally possessed weapons, reducing the proliferation of small arms and light weapons across the continent.

Speaking at the launch, participants emphasized that strong collaboration is essential to shaping a future of peace, security, and sustainable development across Africa.
Africa Amnesty Month remains a cornerstone initiative in the continent’s collective efforts to build safer communities and advance the aspirations of Agenda 2063: The Africa We Want.
