The Regional Centre on Small Arms and Light Weapons (RECSA), in partnership with the United Nations Institute for Disarmament Research (UNIDIR) and with the support of the United Kingdom’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), is pleased to announce the upcoming In-Person National Focal Points (NFP) Meeting and Stakeholders’ Conference on the Review and Strengthening of the Implementation of the Nairobi Protocol.

This four-day convening will bring together National Focal Point coordinators from RECSA Member States, regional and international stakeholders—including representatives from the African Union, Regional Economic Communities (RECs), UN agencies, development partners, civil society, and academia—for critical dialogue on advancing the implementation of the Nairobi Protocol.
What to Expect:
- Review of the regional assessment findings on Nairobi Protocol implementation
- Deliberations on proposed amendments to the Protocol and its Best Practice Guidelines
- Practical strategies to enhance national coordination and accountability mechanisms
- High-level panels sharing lessons learned and identifying new opportunities for SALW control interventions
