Ministers to Convene in Nairobi to Shape the Future of Arms Control in the Region
RECSA is set to convene its 11th Council of Ministers (COM) Meeting on 12 June 2025 in Nairobi, Kenya. The meeting will be chaired by the Cabinet Secretary, Ministry of Interior and National Administration, Republic of Kenya, who also currently serves as Chair of the RECSA Council.
Ministers of Interior or their equivalents from RECSA’s 15 Member States are expected to attend and deliberate on key policy, legal, and institutional matters relating to the Centre’s operations and mandate.
The Council will review recommendations submitted by the 16th TAC Meeting, along with other agenda items such as:
Implementation status of previous COM resolutions.
The RECSA Executive Secretary’s report.
Regional compliance with the Nairobi Protocol.
Proposed revisions to the RECSA Agreement and financing model.
Special activities commemorating 20 years of RECSA.
The 11th COM Meeting is expected to adopt new resolutions that will influence arms control strategies, resource mobilization, and policy direction across Member States.
This high-level political engagement will demonstrate continued regional commitment to preventing armed violence and promoting peace and stability.
