The Regional Centre on Small Arms (RECSA) will host its 16th Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) Meeting on 11 June 2025 in Nairobi, Kenya.
This meeting will bring together Permanent Secretaries, Chiefs of Police, and senior representatives from national security institutions across RECSA Member States. The TAC plays a vital role in evaluating technical and strategic matters related to small arms and light weapons (SALW) control within the region.
Held under the theme: “RECSA @ 20: Two Decades of Action on Small Arms and Light Weapons – Lessons, Challenges and the Road Ahead,” the TAC will consider critical agenda items including:
The status of implementation of previous Council resolutions.
A report by the RECSA Executive Secretary covering July 2023 to June 2025.
Regional progress on the Nairobi Protocol.
A consultative review of the RECSA Agreement.
A proposed framework for improving the RECSA financing mechanism.
The TAC will review recommendations developed by the Forum of Government Experts, composed of National Focal Point Coordinators (NFPs), and provide a set of revised recommendations to be presented at the Council of Ministers meeting.
This gathering is expected to enhance technical cooperation and align strategic actions in SALW control across the region.
