The 2nd Regional PSSM ToT Course for the French speaking RECSA Member states and bordering states is scheduled to begin on 18th March 2026 to 4th April 2026 at HPSS in Embakasi, Kenya. This course is jointly organized by RECSA, hosted by IPSTC(HPSS) with funding from the Ministry of Defence, Government of Austria.
The training will bring together participants drawn from the Military and Police from RECSA French speaking countries and bordering states. The participating countries include; Burundi, Democratic Republic of Congo, Central African Republic, Djibouti, Rwanda, Cameroon, Comoros and Madagascar.
In the spirit of promoting full and meaningful participation of women in SALW management, the course organizers encouraged the nomination of women participants.
The course will be facilitated by 3 senior PSSM instructors from Burundi and international facilitators from the Government of Austria and undertaken in French language.
The main objectives of the training include;
– To develop the capacity of the participants to plan and execute PSSM interventions through introducing them to the best international standards, based on the International Ammunition Technical Guidelines (IATG) and the Modular Small Arms Implementation Compendium (MOSAIC).
– To equip participants with knowledge and skills on how to apply simple and effective measures to manage and control weapons and ammunition, reducing the risk of diversion, theft and accidental/ unintentional explosions at ammunition sites.
